2009-07-04: RC2009: Press Coverage Again

I just found another picture of one of our robots (Mops in this case) in the internet, more specific on the futurezone website. This time, they mentioned even our team name :)

In this article, there’s even a picture of our former Minihops:

2009-07-03: Mexican Flu (Swine Flue) at RoboCup 2009

Graz, 2009-07-03, 22:05 – During the RoboCup Banquette, the organisers of the RoboCup World Championships 2009 confirmed that a member of a RoboCup team was infected with the swine flu virus A/H1N1. The nevertheless didn’t give any more concrete or specific information (presumably in order to keep the situation calm). According to them, the team has been isolated, is under medical supervision, and the RoboCup World Championships will go on as planned. The ORF has published an article on this topic as well.

There is no reason to be concerned. The responsible authority has made and cares about all the necessary arrangements.

They provided a letter with information on how to behave and how to identify a flu infection. I’ve attached the letter we got (in German only).

Update 22:42: A more realistic view on this new situation, this time in English, is shown below:

2009-07-03: RC2009: Match against Mostly Harmless

CN:Mostly Harmless – 3:0

The match against Mostly Harmless is scheduled for 17:00, as already pointed out in the last post. We already started preparation, I’ll try to keep this post updated.

17:57: End Game

17:55: Goal! CN 3 – 0 Mostly Harmless (actually no goal, because it was just rolling towards and into the goal)
17:xx: Game Started (Second Half)

17:32: Half Time

17:30: Goal! CN 2 – 0 Mostly Harmless (time approx)
17:17: Goal! CN 1 – 0 Mostly Harmless
17:17: Game Started (First Half)

2009-07-03: RC2009: Status Update

Our next match is scheduled for 17:00. Against Mostly Harmless. They improved really a lot since the German Open in Hannover this year, really incredible. Will be a hard game for us. But it will also be fun, because these mostly harmless guys are actually really nice guys (even though they are mostly Austrian … no, no, I didn’t say anything; no, don’t beat me! I’m almost Austrian… well. No. That’s … no. But. Well.)

So what else can I say? It was actually quite great to get only pre-filtered information through bandwidth limited channels such as Jabber. Now, I have to think about what to post here myself. Difficult. 1. RFC Stuttgart seemed to have problems, their matches looked not that nice compared to the first days (this assumption is based on what I was told). I’m nevertheless sure that they will both improve a lot until the finals on Sunday. Ah, and Mostly Harmless‘ goal keeper. They shot at it, broke some cover, and thereby shifted the camera system. Afterwards, the goalie was unable to do anything any more.

More to be posted later… looking forward to the upcoming match.
